SPOA Objectives

The objects of the Association are:-

  1. To protect and further the interests of plant owners on all matters affecting plant ownership and plant usage, and to advise and offer guidance on terms and conditions relating to the hiring and taking on hire of plant.

  2. To facilitate collaboration and co-operation between firms and companies engaged in the industry.

  3. To represent members on questions affecting the industry in negotiations with Government Departments.

  4. To promote, encourage and protect in every possible way the interests of employers engaged in owning, hiring, using, operating or servicing plant, equipment and others and that within, allied to or associated with the plant hire industry in the widest sense.

  1. To co-operate with or assist any Association or Institutions incorporated or not incorporated with objects altogether or in part similar to those of the Association.

  2. To consider all questions connected with any orders, rules or regulations which are now in force or which may from time to time be drawn up by parliament or any other public body or authority ( whether Parliamentary, local or otherwise) relating to the objects of the Association or in any way connected therewith.

  3. To originate and promote improvements in the law, and to support or oppose alterations therein, and to effect improvements in administration and, for the purposes aforesaid, to petition Parliament and to take such other steps and proceedings as may be deemed expedient.

  4. To collect and circulate statistics and information on all matters affecting the industry and allied trades and to print, publish, issue and circulate such papers, periodicals, books, circulars and other literary undertakings as may seem conducive to any of these objects.

  5. To arrange and promote the adoption of forms of contracts, tenders and other documents used in the industry and allied trades, and to encourage and promote the settlement of trade and other disputes by arbitration and to act as or nominate arbitrators and umpires on such terms and in such cases as may seem expedient.

  6. To invest the monies of the Association not immediately required in such securities or otherwise in such manner as may from time to time be determined.

  7. To advise members on request on any matter arising in the course of their business as plant owners or in their capacity as plant users, and to render any assistance possible in such cases.

  8. To remunerate such officers as staff as the Association may employ from time to time and to defray, in appropriate cases, any necessary expenses which the office bearers and committee members of the Association may incur.

  9. To do all such things as may be deemed incidental or conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
